Biosorption Studies for the Removal of Malachite Green from its Aqueous Solution by Activated Carbon Prepared from Cassava Peel

Abstract: The association of dyes with health related problems is not a new phenomenon. The effectiveness of carbon adsorption for dye removal from textile effluent has made it an ideal alternative to other expensive treatment methods. The preparation of activated carbon from agricultural waste could increase economic return and reduce pollution. Cassava peel has been used as a raw material to produce activated carbon. The study investigates the removal of malachite green dye from its aqueous solution. The effects of co… Show more

“…The direct and inverse relationships of ( ) and ℎ and ( , )with in-flow rates of PAH solutions respectively is similar to what obtained in the previous studies [21], [18]. Adams Bohart, Yoon-Nelson and Thomas model parameter Values are higher in the study of Asiagwu,(2012) [13], Olayiwola,(2013) [21] and Parvathi et al ( 2011) [23] than the present study. This can be attributed to different adsorbate properties.…”

“…Besides these, several other researchers also examined the suitability of different fruits and vegetables waste peels as adsorbents for the removal of aquatic pollutants [153][154][155][156][157][158][159][160][161][162][163][164][165][166][167][168][169][170][171]. Tables 6 and 7 represent uptake capacities of various peel-based adsorbents for metals and organic pollutants removal from water, respectively.…”
