Bios, a process approach to living system theory. In honour of James and Jessie Miller

Abstract: Living systems provide a model for nature because the continuity of evolution requires that the same fundamental forms must be expressed at all levels of organization. Studying heartbeat patterns, we found a new type of process-bios. Bios has now been found in a wide variety of processes including biological, meteorological, economic time series and the evolution of galactic distribution, the paradigmatic case of creation. Bios is defined by three measurable properties-diversification, novelty and nonrandom co… Show more

“…As we developed these time series analyses, we examined multiple and diverse time series. We found biotic patterns in some economic data (Sabelli and Abouzeid, 2003; Patel and Sabelli, 2003; Sugerman and Sabelli, 2003; Levy‐Carciente et al , 2004; Sabelli and Carlson‐Sabelli, 2005). Biotic patterns are found at all levels of organization: Quantum physics.…”

“…Many researches discuss about various phases of process equation in the viewpoint of its time series, cobweb plot (graph of equation), recurrence plot, and complement plot [1,2,10,[18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26]. another map that is derived from the process equation is a circle map that is of the process equation and cannot show biotic pattern due to the mixing that occurs from the modulus.…”
