Biometrical studies of yield and related traits in advance breeding lines of bush type vegetable cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.]

Abstract: Sixty-six bush type advance breeding lines of vegetable cowpea developed at ICAR -Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (ICAR-IIVR), Varanasi were evaluated for different horticultural traits for genetic variability, character association, causeeffect analysis and genetic diversity among the genotypes through D 2 statistics. High values of genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variations, heritability (h 2 B) and genetic advance were recorded for pod yield per plant, number of peduncles and pods per plant, … Show more

“…reported earlier by HiraLal et al, 2018, which is in line with the present investigation results.Maturity charactersFor days to first maturity, among the all the 87 genotypes, two genotypes, EC-290231 and IC-91458 (44.50 days) followed byEC-24018 and IC-333106 (46 days) were earlier to first maturity compared to rest of the genotypes. Around 19 genotypes had produced beans with early maturity than early maturing check variety Kashi Unnati (48 days).…”
