Biomass and Stock of Nutrients in Different Genotypes of Eucalypts in Southern Brazil

Abstract: The objective of this study was to estimate the biomass, nutrient stocks, and nutrient utilization efficiency of six genotypes of eucalypts at 49-months-old. The experiment was conducted in Eldorado do Sul (Climate of the region is characterized as subtropical humid - Cfa; and the soil in the experimental area is the Red-Yellow Argissol), Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The selected trees were fractionated into leaves, branches, stembark and stemwood. The amount of total biomass ranged from 68.40 to 117.52 Mg ha-1,… Show more

“…However, considering only the stemwood component of the trees, since this is the component of main commercial interest in the stands, the NUE decreased in the following order: phosphor > magnesium > sulfur > calcium > nitrogen > potassium for sandy and clayey soil. Similar results, although with inversion in the distribution of some nutrients, were reported by Santos et al (2019b) studying the nutritional efficiency of different eucalyptus genotypes in Southern Brazil (P > S > Mg > Ca > N > K).…”

“…Contudo, ainda são necessários estudos para avaliar a sustentabilidade dos fatores de crescimento, água, luz e nutrientes no manejo dessas plantações. Por exemplo, Santos et al (2019) reportaram que a concentração de alocação de nutrientes, bem como biomassa, pode variar nos diferentes genótipos de eucalipto, mesmo em condições edafoclimáticas semelhantes.…”
