Biologically active 2-thione-4,6-diamino-5-hydroxypyrimidine transition metal complexes

Abstract: New complexes of 2-thione-4,6-diamino-5-hydroxypyrimidine (HTDAHP) with Fe(III), Ni(II), Ag(I) and Ru (II) are described. IR, 1 H-NMR and mass spectra, conductivity, magnetic and thermal measurements of the complexes are reported and their structures discussed. HTDAHP behaves as a bidentate ligand, forming five membered hydroxyl-amino chelates or four-membered cyclic nitrogen-sulphur chelates without any participation of the pendant amino or hydroxy groups in complexation. The biological activities of the Ag(I… Show more

“…The strong band near 1606 cm -1 assigned to d(NH 2 ) in Hapc is shifted to ca. 1618 cm -1 upon complexation [4,5]. The Raman and IR data suggest N, O mononegative bidentate coordination of (apc -) except for complexes (12) and (16).…”

“…We have previously reported the chemistry and anticancer activity of some transition metal complexes of 4,6-diamino-5-hydroxy-2-mercaptopyrimidine [4][5][6] and 5,6-diamino-2,4-dihydroxypyrimidine [7]. Pyrazines and its derivatives form an important class of compounds present in many natural flavours and complicated organic molecules [8].…”

“…Gold nanoparticles (Au‐NPs), due to their unique properties including low‐toxicity, photothermal effects, large specific surface area, versatility in surface modification, and polyvalent effects, are useful in developing therapeutic strategies . 4,6‐diamino‐2‐pyrimidinethiol (DAPT) has no obvious pharmaceutical effect; however, DAPT‐decorated Au‐NPs can fight against most of MDR Gram‐negative bacteria such as MDR Escherichia coli ( E. coli ) and MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa ( P. aeruginosa ) via inhibiting energy metabolism and dissipating membrane of the bacteria …”

“…Among the thioamides, the N-heterocyclic thiones can be highlighted as ligands in coordination chemistry due to their potential as metallodrugs [22,23]. As a consequence, several pyridine-2-thiones [24], pyrimidine-2-thiones [3,12,[25][26][27] or thiouracils [28][29][30][31][32] containing transition metal complexes have been isolated and their biological activity assayed.…”
