“…Targeting agents are very indispensable in designing functional nanomaterial. Self-assembled peptides are very useful for inhibiting pathogenic cells, such as tumor cells and bacteria, and maintaining the physiological functions of normal tissues ( Wang et al, 2021 ). In a study, tandem self-assembled peptide systems based on the targets were designed.…”

“…Some peptide sequences include amino acid sequences that spontaneously generate supramolecular-ordered aggregates. These, through noncovalent intermolecular interactions, maintain the peptide-based self-assembled structures in a stable low-energy state [ 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 38 , 39 , 40 ]. Self-assembled supramolecular structures, depending on their morphology, exert different physicochemical and biological properties; therefore, they are widely studied as the basis of many neurodegenerative diseases and can be used for intracellular or targeted tissue drug delivery.…”

“…They are also extensively studied for the prolonged release of peptide drugs, which can deliver monomers in a controlled manner. In this context, the study of proteins and peptide self-association and the parameters that can influence these processes paves the path for a wide range of applications [ 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 38 , 39 , 40 ].…”

“…[5,6] Yet most molecular assemblies are nothing more than aggregates of molecules, lacking physical properties which are not present in the isolated molecules. It is no coincidence that the most prominent applications of molecular assemblies have been in the fields of biological chemistry [7] and host-guest chemistry, [8] in which the necessary functionality arises from assembly shape rather than physical properties. For molecular self-assembly to be useful as a method for creating components for devices, strategies for realizing assemblies with novel physical properties are required.…”
