“…Metabolites produced by this bacterium caused a significant inhibition of the conidial germination of Botrytis cinerea [16,17]. Recent experiments performed in an apricot tree field proved its efficacy as a biocontrol agent against Monilia laxa [18], and it also showed completely in vitro inhibition for the conidial germination of Penicillium digitatum and Penicillium expansum [18]. Components of B. gladioli showed high ability to produce extracellular hydrolytic enzymes such as chitinase, protease, cellulase, amylase and glucanase that may have direct effect on the fungal growth [1923].…”

“…on various stages of fruit production during the spring to summer season i.e. blossom (Altindag et al 2006;Holb and Kunz 2013;Wittig et al 1997), pre-harvest (Ippolito and Nigro 2000;Poleatewich et al 2012) and post-harvest (Ferreira-Pinto et al 2006;Schena et al 2003;Yanez-Mendizabal et al 2011). Currently, we are conducting large trials in commercial orchards to evaluate such a disease control strategy.…”
