“…Dominant components of essential oils of samples collected from the Republic of Macedonia were sesquiterpenes (S. amplexicaulis and S. jurisicii) and monoterpenes (S. ringens) (Alimpić et al, 2015a,b;2016b). The extracts of all examined plants, especially of S. amplexicaulis and S. ringens, contained different polyphenolic components, and exhibited antioxidant, antimicrobial, cytotoxic and anti-neurodegenerative activities (Orhan et al, 2012;Alimpić et al, 2014;2015b;2016a,b;2017). Our previous studies proved antioxidant and neurodegenerative enzymes-inhibiting activities of total extracts of examined sage species, while in this study we intended to examine the mentioned activities of residual plant material obtained after essential oil isolation.…”

“…[1,2] The pericarps of Z. bungeanum are often used as a culinary spice and as an aromatic in perfumes. [5] Previous study has quantitatively determined the chemical components of Z. bungeanum, including volatile oils, alkaloids, coumarins, acid amide and phenol components. [4] Unsurprisingly, with the combination of its distinctive flavor and positive health effects, pericarp consumption continues to increase.…”

“…The plant extracts are also important primary processing products, meaning that the pericarps have a relatively high added economic value. [5] To the best of our knowledge, no data is available on the effects of different solvents on the sensory characteristics and antioxidant activity of Z. bungeanum pericarp extracts. [16] Generally, plant extracts are obtained using different solvents.…”

“…The outer membranes of Gram (-) and Gram (+) bacteria are arranged differently so the differences are affected penetration of macromolecules during the treatment [44]. Moreover, Gram (-) bacteria are more resistant against natural components than Gram (+) bacteria.…”
