“…In addition, pharmacological evaluation of Cardiospermum halicacabum extracts showed that the plant possesses antimalarial (Waako et al, 2005), antifilarial (Khunkitti et al, 2000), antiparasitic (Boonmars et al, 2005), antipyretic (Asha & Pushpangadan, 1999), anti-inflammatory (Sadique et al, 1987), and antianxiety (Malaviya et al, 2009) activities. Also, the plant's antiulcer activity (Sheeba & Asha, 2006), and antihyperglycemic activity against streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats as well as its antidiarrheal potentials in mice (Rao et al, 2006) are well documented in literature.…”

“…The leaf of cassia occidentalis, family Caesalipnioceae is a small tree growing 5 to 8 metres in height. The leaf of this plant is used in local folk medicine as an antihypertensive agent (Oliver, 1960;Sadique, 1987). However, we have found no scientific prove to the claims ascribed to this plant.…”

“…The increased alkaline phosphatase activity and decreased A/G ratio of plasma in cotton pellet granulomatous rats were normalized after treatments with C. halicacabum extract were able to stabilize the human erythrocyte membrane against hypotonicity-induced lysis. It is likely that it may exert their anti-inflammatory activity by inhibition of phospholipase A2, resulting in the reduced availability of arachidonic acid (a precursor of prostaglandin biosynthesis) and by stabilization of the lysosomal membrane system (Sadique et al, 1987). Antihyperglycemic role is also proved by plant (Veeramani et al, 2012).…”
