Aim:The aim of the study was to assess the effect of two levels of wasted date (WD) by replacing commercial concentrate on the reproductive performance of Ouled Djellal (OD) rams.Materials and Methods:Eighteen mature (2-year-old) OD rams were equally allocated to three groups and fed during 11 weeks with one of three different experimental diets, that contained 0% (0 WD), 50% (50 WD), or 75% (75 WD) of WDs in concentrate diet. Live body weight (LBW), body condition scoring (BCS), scrotal circumference (SC), testicular weight (TW), sperm production and quality, plasma testosterone concentration (T), and sexual behavior (reaction time and number of mounts with ejaculation) were regularly recorded from every ram.Results:LBW, SC, and TW changed significantly among diet groups and during the experimental period (p<0.001), the highest averages were recorded in (0 WD) group. LBW, BCS, SC, TW, semen volume, and percentage of the positive hypo-osmotic swelling test were (p<0.001) positively influenced by flushing period. Nevertheless, sperm concentration showed a significant (p<0.001) decrease at day 30, followed by a return to the initial values afterward. There were no differences (p>0.05) between diet groups for plasma testosterone concentration and semen attributes, except that (50 WD) group expressed the lowest overall value of semen concentration. Furthermore, neither time nor diet affected (p>0.05) sperm motility and reproductive behavior parameters.Conclusions:It is possible to introduce WD as unconventional local feeding resources in flushing diet of breeding rams without disturbing their reproductive performance.

Hecommercial herbicide, bispyribac-sodium, is widely utilized in agricultural to control weeds in rice fields. Although, it ' s efficacy in controlling unwanted plant growth is well established, there are concerns about its potential effects on non-target organisms, such as the fish. Clarias gariepinus is a commonly farmed species of catfish and its health is of economic importance to aquaculture operations. The aim of the present work is to investigate the effects of bispyribac-sodium on the liver functions and it ' s histopathology in C. gariepinus. The study was conducted over a period of 14 and 28 days, with fish being exposed to varying concentrations of bispyribac-sodium (High and low concentrations). At the end of exposure period, blood and liver samples were collected for analysis the liver functions and its histopathology. Results showed that, exposure to bispyribac-sodium caused significant changes in the liver functions as indicated by altered levels of liver enzymes, including aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT), alanine aminotransferase (ALAT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), albumin and total proteins. Histopathological examination of the liver tissue declared that exposure to bispyribac-sodium caused hepatic damage including centrilobular vacuolization, degeneration of the hepatocytes and infiltration of immune cells. Results suggested that, exposure to bispyribac-sodium can cause significant harm to the liver of C. gariepinus and raises concerns about its potential effects on the health of other aquatic organisms. Therefore, future studies must be conducted to fully understand the mechanisms underlying these effects and to assess the potential risks posed by bispyribac-sodium to the aquatic environment. Such study highlights the importance of considering the potential effects of agriculture's chemicals on non-target organisms and knowledge for a more holistic approach to weed control in rice fields.

On male albino rats, this study has evaluated the toxicity of halosulfuron-methyl and clethodim on their hepatic, haematological, and oxidative effects. For a period of 28 days, the animals were given either halosulfuronmethyl (886 and 1773 mg/kg) or clethodim (163 and 326 mg/kg body weight) herbicides orally. As a control treatment, distilled water was used. Hematological and biochemical markers, as well as body weight gain and organ weight, were all assessed. In general, all treated rats' bodyweight gain and relative testes weight were considerably lower when compared to the control treatments. Furthermore, the relative weights of the liver, kidneys, lungs, spleen, brain, and heart were recorded at various rising levels. At the ending of the procedure, blood samples were taken. Hepatic toxicity was measured using the blood enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), whereas renal toxicity was measured using urea and creatinine. Red blood corpuscles (RBC), white blood cells (WBC) and hemoglobin were tested in the liver to detect oxidative damage and monitor changes in hematological parameters. Both herbicide treatments resulted in significant increases in the levels of liver enzymes (ALT and AST). In male albino rats, hematological parameters indicated considerable changes, with decreases in RBC and hemoglobin and a large rise in WBC. The findings suggest that even at subacute exposure, halosulfuron-methyl and clethodim might cause hematological parameter changes, which might be linked to the production of reactive oxygen species.
