The ligand of Cyanoguanidine showed an important coordination formula with Ni2+ to give a complex of tetrahedral geometrical shape [Ni(CY)2Cl2] when the metal reacted with Cyanoguanidine of 1:2 ratio, and octahedral complexes of the types [Ni(CY)2(PPh3)2Cl2], [Ni(CY)2)(PPh3)4]Cl2 and [Ni(CY)2(diphos)2]Cl2 (where CY= Cyanoguanidine and diphos = dppm, dppe, dppp, dppb), since the structure depends on the conditions and type of the compounds involved in reaction.
The prepared complexes were characterized by element analysis CHN, conductivity measurements and magnetic susceptibility and also identified spectrally by Ultraviolet and Infrared spectroscopy.
