“…Therefore, the UV absorption of the extracts from Phoebe zhennan wood may be due to the aromatic rings in the compounds such as 2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-3,7-benzofurandiol; 5-allyl-6-(allyloxy)-1,3-benzodioxole and 2,3,3,4,7-pentamethyl-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran. Previous research revealed that the benzene ring structure in the diethyl ether extracts was mainly from the identified compound of 3,7-benzofurandiol,2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl [33]; this result indicated that the number in compounds providing benzene ring structure in EA-EX and TR-EX was larger, which guaranteed the UV light absorption of the EA-EX and TR-EX.…”

“…The absorption of UV-A light for UV-PF with the addition of 14% of EA-EX and TR-EX was 80% and 74%, respectively. The addition of 14% of diethyl ether extracts into a polylactic acid matrix could block 75% of UV-A, which has similar absorption ability as that of TR-EX [33]. This result revealed that EA-EX was more prefered in the preparation of UV shielding films.…”

“…[ 137,138 ] The pre‐clinical study evaluated the adminitering of low dose of C. longa extract in rodents prevented the acute and chronic phase of arthritis and concluded the C. longa comprising an active component curcuminoid possesing an potent as antiinflammatory activity.. [ 139,140 ] Eysenhardtia polystachya – The Eysenhardtia polystachya commonly known as Palo Azul belonging to family Leguminosae comprises of chief components like (3S)‐7‐hydroxy‐2′,3′,4′,5′,8‐pentamethoxyisoflavan, (3S)3′,7‐dihydroxy‐2′,4′,5′,8‐tetramethoxyisoflavan, stigmasterol, isoduartin, cuneatin, 7‐hydroxy‐2′,4′,5′‐trimethoxyisoflavone and 3,4‐dimethoxy‐8,9‐(methylenedioxy) pterocarpan possessing anti‐inflammatory property and has been demonstrated in therapy of arthritis. [ 141–143 ] The preliminary animal data concluded that the screening the therapeutic value of ethanolic extract of E. polystachya bark against complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)‐induced rheumatoid arthritis model given orally significantly reduces the arthritic pain in rats. [ 144 ] The study proposed a mechanism of therapeutic value of E. polystachya by inhibiting of secondary inflammatory reactions and reducing the serum concentrations of the pro‐inflammatory cytokines like IL‐6, TNF‐α and GM‐CSF in arthritic rats.…”

“…Therefore, the E. polystachya bark is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and pain management. [ 143 ] Glycyrrhiza glabra – The G. glabra commonly known as liquorice belonging to family Leguminosae comprises of glycyrrhizic acid or glycyrrhizin as an active constituent and major pentacyclic triterpenoid possessing anti‐inflammatory property. [ 145 ] As the preliminary data showed the usage of G. glabra rhizome extract inhibited the leucocyte migration and auto‐antigen production in male Wistar rat possesses an anti‐arthritic activity.…”
