“…It is important to point out that there are several familial forms of uterine structural abnormalities as well as the inherited combination of uterine and urinary tract structural anomalies [Nykiforuk, 1938;Polishuk and Ron, 1974;Kurtz et al, 1980;Biedel et al, 1984;Stone et al, 2000;Cho et al, 2005;Uliana et al, 2008] in which fetal deformation might be expected to occur secondary to maternal uterine constraint. As well, there are syndromes and chromosomal anomalies in which uterine structural anomalies are known to occur [Shanks, 1956;Reece et al, 1982;Stone et al, 2000;Puvabanditsin et al, 2003;Ramirez and Lammer, 2004;Cho et al, 2005;Forzano et al, 2005;Mohan et al, 2006;Uliana et al, 2008].…”

“…Indeed, term delivery of two fetuses from such uteri has been described [10], but abnormal presentations at par turition, dystocia or premature labor may occasionally [11] reported that pregnancy in the rudimentary horn of a bicomuate uterus is an uncom monness with an assessed incidence of 1/140,000 deliv eries. Even now pregnancy in the rudimentary horn of a bicornuate uterus appears to be approximately 10 times less than abdominal pregnancy [6], Ultrasonography is a beneficial instrument substan tiating uterine anomalies except at advanced gestational age [5,12], According to previous investigators [12], a patient with a septate uterus possesses a septum visualizable sonographically, with substantiation at cesarean section. It bears no resemblance to the short, broad uter ine septum characteristic of a subseptate uterus [ 12], In a bicomuate uterus, angled transverse sonogram by way of a subseptate uterus demonstrates an anterior indenta tion of the endometrial cavity with no indentation of the external uterine configurations [12], The peculiar sono graphic features described above were demonstrated in our patient.…”

“…The role of ultrasound has gained greater prominence for diagnosing uterine malformations in both the pregnant [42][43][44][45][46][47][48] and nonpregnant woman 49 " 52 Diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound in pregnancy is facilitated not only by the increased uterine size but by the contrast provided by amniotic fluid. Most studies have concentrated on renal abnormalities seen in conjunction with the uterine anomalies.…”
