Best suited timing schedule of inorganic NPK fertilizers and its effect on qualitative and quantitative attributes of spring sown sugarcane ( Saccharum officinarum L.)

Abstract: Recently approved variety of sugarcane CPF-248 was grown at agriculture farms of Fatima Sugar Mills, Muzaffargarh, Pakistan. The experiment site was located at Latitude 30°17 0 52.58 00 N and Longitude 70°57 0 44.31 00 E. This experiment was conducted to sort out a suitable fertilizer timing schedule being practiced in the area. This promising variety was evaluated for inorganic N, P and K at different growth stages throughout the year. Each fertilizer treatment had 60 m long 3 rows at random. Center to center… Show more

“…In case of nitrogen scheduling 6 splits application recorded significantly higher commercial cane sugar yield (23.39 and 22.85 t ha -1 during first and second year, respectively) as compared to farmers practice but statistically at par with 8 splits, 10 splits, and 4 splits during both the years. Hussain et al (2017) also observed that different timing schedule of nutrient significantly affect the sugar yield.…”

“…Number of millable canes/m 2 increased linearly by the potash application during both plant crop and ratoon crop year. These findings correlate with the findings of Hussain et al (2017), who stated that increased application of potash has a positive and linear effect on number of millable canes. Moreover, 90 by 90 d-pits produced more number of millable canes, which may be due to more seed rate per square meter than that of other plantation schemes.…”
