Benzimidazole‐indole‐chalcone connected methacrylate‐based side chain D‐π‐A polymer and its application in organic photovoltaics

Abstract: Herein, we report four metal-free organic polymethacrylates (In-In-BzI)PMA, (Ac-In-BzI)PMA, (TPA-In-BzI)PMA, and (Py-In-BzI)PMA with pendant chromophores donor-pconjugated-acceptor (D-p-A) molecular framework as photosensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In which the donor-acceptor units are attached by an indole-chalcone extending side chain to inhibit back electron transfer and charge recombination; the p-linker component contains varied chalcone-based substituents to enhance the sunlightharves… Show more

“…Among them, N -arylindoles have found applications in the field of materials chemistry. For example, N -arylindoles have been proposed as novel dye-sensitized solar cells [ 154 ], electrophosphorescent diodes [ 155 ], oxygen sensors [ 156 ], and other things [ 157 , 158 , 159 , 160 ]. Procedures for the N -arylation of indoles have also been used for the preparation of indoles with biological activity.…”

“…In the past few decades, functional fluorescent organic molecules have been a subject of intensive investigation due to their potential applications in the fields of fluorescent organic sensors, data storage, security papers, OLEDs, OPVs, and bioimaging. [1][2][3][4][5][6] A majority of the red emitting dyes are extensively π-conjugated systems doped with red dopant dyes such as strongly electron withdrawing dicyanomethylene group, porphyrin complexes, rare earth metal complexes etc., [7][8][9][10] and generally suffer from aggregation caused quenching (ACQ). The phenomenon of aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) [11,12] discovered by Tang, suggests that the molecules can be engineered to overcome the ACQ.…”
