“…Ulbright et al [8] interpreted their findings differently and suggested, instead, a müllerian histogenesis. Most recent contributors to this body of literature have supported this latter view, and have applied the term benign müllerian papilloma [9][10][11][12][13]. To date, only 15 cases have been reported in the English literature.…”

“…Light-microscopic features of Müllerian papillomas include papillae lined with eosinophilic cells with uniform, bland nuclei, solid areas of identical cells, and scattered glandular lumina which contain mucopolysaccharides [4]. At first, it was thought that these vaginal papillomas in childhood were of mesonephric origin, but later studies, using electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry, proved their Müllerian origin [4][5][6]. Immunohistochemical studies showed positive reactions for type 1 cytokeratin, epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and none for either for type 2 cytokeratin or vimentin, which are characteristic for mesothelial cell types [5].…”

“…Müllerian papilloma is a benign differentiated tumor that occurs early in childhood, typically before 10 years of age [1]. Usually, local excision is adequate for treatment [1,6]. There are, however, descriptions of recurrence [1,5] and borderline malignant change [1].…”
