Traditional medicines are ingredients or ingredients in the form of plant ingredients, animal ingredients, mineral ingredients, galenic preparations, or mixtures of these materials, which have been used for generations for treatment and can be applied according to the norms in force in society. Bottle shark (Centrophorus atromarginatus) has good prospects as a producer of liver oil; this fish is easy to catch and occurs in relatively large quantities in Indonesian waters. The catch rate until now is only 39% of its sustainable potential. Bottled shark liver oil contains 90% squalene, Vitamin A, and Omega, which are very useful for the human body as a supplement for heart disease and stomach ulcers and increase stamina and brain intelligence. The rapid Development of technology certainly benefits the people who use it. One example of today's use of technology is applying a technology system for the fisheries sector. This tool works automatically to monitor the processing of bottled shark livers. That way, fishermen don't have to worry about cloudy weather or things that will take longer than processing the shark liver bottle. This Bottle Shark Liver Heater uses temperatures at 31˚, 32˚, 33˚, 34˚, and 35˚. With PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control, the quality of the Bottle Shark liver can be maintained. This tool is supported by a DS18B20 temperature sensor, Arduino uno, Relay, Ceramic Heater element, DC Fan, LCD 16X12, Power Supply, and Switch. It is hoped that the community, with this automatic system device, can make it easier to manage Bottle Shark Liver Oil.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is one of the bacteria that contribute to the occurrence of infectious diseases, such as mastitis, dermatitis, respiratory tract infections, and toxic shock syndrome. Therapy that can be given to patients with Staphylococcus aureus infection is antibiotics, but inappropriate antibiotics can cause resistance. Using herbal ingredients is an effort to deal with resistance due to the incompatibility of antibiotic administration. The essential herbal ingredients for therapy, namely lime extract (Citrus aurantifolia) and honey, have antibacterial substances such as flavonoids and essential oils.Objectives: The study aims to measure the combination of lime extract and honey in increasing the inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.Methods: Experimental research using a combination of lime and honey extracts, single preparation of lime juice (Citrus aurantifolia), and single preparation of honey with concentrations of 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%, as well as gentamycin antibiotics as positive control and NaCl 0,85% as a negative control. The research was conducted at the Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Aceh Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, in May 2021. The experimental method used in this study is the diffusion method. Data were obtained by observing the study's results of increasing the inhibition of the combination of lime juice and honey against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Data analysis by measuring the average diameter of the antimicrobial inhibition zone against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.Results: The combination of lime extract and honey can form a more significant inhibition against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus compared to a single preparation of lime juice at concentrations of 100% and 75%. While at concentrations of 50% and 25%, no more significant inhibition was formed than in the single preparation.Conclusion: The combination of lime extract and honey can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.

Medicinal Plant Drying Using a Superabsorbent Polymer Dryer Incorporated with an Insulated Heater

In this study, a superabsorbent polymer dryer (Polydryer) used to obtain dried medicinal plant materials (Simplicia) was incorporated with a heater to enhance the drying rate. In general, the Polydryer was constructed using a cabinet containing polymer hydrogel (polygel), a gas-fueled heater, and a drying cabinet. A polygel synthesized from acrylic acid and cassava starch was utilized to reduce the moisture content in the drying air prior to entering the heater. The drying performance of the Polydryer with and without heater operation was investigated. The results showed that the drying in the Polydryer with heater operation required 18–26 h to attain a final moisture content of 8.8–10%, significantly faster than the Polydryer without heater employment (95–119 h). In addition, the drying of medicinal plants in the modified Polydryer followed the Page thin-drying model. The Simplicia products also showed a slightly lighter color, with no significant structural differences than those obtained without heat implementation. Overall, this drying machine is a time-effective and energy-efficient system that can be applied in pharmaceutical and agricultural industries on a large scale.
