“…Monitoring daily steps count and activity time is the most valid measurement of PA and can help patients achieve an effective daily level of PA 2. Despite recent great advances in pedometers as a tool to estimate daily steps, with miniaturized accelerometer apps now available for use on smartphones, these technologies are still not used by patients as much as they probably should be 8,9. However according to the above definition of PA,2 direct measure of daily energy expenditure may be a more appropriate mode for assessing PA.…”

“…In our study, REVASC patients improved daily steps more than those with pulmonary diseases. A huge variability has been reported in changes in physical activity after pulmonary rehabilitation [33,34]. Considering the overall results, given the high variability of the improvement in daily steps, both in pulmonary and cardiac diseases, we think that a better behavioral approach aimed at improving lifestyles and reducing sedentary behavior in chronic patients should be implemented and added to the training program.…”

“…Omron HJ-321 pedometer will be used to measure relative step count in pregnant women. It has been shown to produce accurate measurement of physical activity in the past studies [32][33][34][35]. Pedometer is a cost-effective alternative for objective measurement of physical activity and able to capture low-intensity activities including walking [36].…”
