BASS Model Analysis in “Crossing the Chasm” in E-Cars Innovation Diffusion Scenarios

Abstract: In the face of contemporary ecological problems, including the influence of transport and mobility on the greenhouse effect, policy makers see a solution in the technology of electric vehicles (EVs). This innovation has appeared in the automotive market around the world. In this article, Rogers’ innovation diffusion concept was used to determine if and when EVs could replace combustion engine vehicles. The aim of the article is to analyze the current situation of innovative electric vehicle (EV) technology on … Show more

“…Still on theoretical footprint, [20] applied the innovation diffusion theory in the global market for EVs. Of the five stages of innovation diffusion (awareness, interest, preference, usage, and continuation), [20] likened EVs to still being in the awareness stage in many developing countries while they are already in the preference stage in most advanced countries. This suggests that developing countries are laggards while developed societies are early adopters.…”

“…We will use the concept of early adopters versus late adopters in this study, placing them into just two categories. The Rogers innovation curve classification is used very widely (Brdulak et al , 2021; Ho, 2021; Rogers and Rahim, 2021). Industry 4.0 was initially introduced in Hannover Fair in 2011, and subsequently Governments around the world have taken strategic decisions for implementation of the same in different countries (Xu et al , 2018), hence in this study the early adopters are defined as those organizations which have implemented Industry 4.0 before 2017 and other organizations which have implemented after that as late adopters.…”
