Basileis, tyrans et magistrats

Abstract: Basileis, tyrans et magistrats (pp. 211-231) Dans les poèmes homériques, les gérontes cumulent les fonctions de conseillers et de magistrats; le pouvoir est partagé entre le basileus et les basileis - gérontes, ce qui préfigure celui des magistrats dans la cité. Au contraire, le pouvoir du tyran à l'époque archaïque se caractérise par son exercice solitaire; il est un vrai monarque, ce que ne sont ni Agamemnon ni les rois de Sparte et, de ce fait, un marginal dans la tradition politique grecque.
