Base Station Selection Technique for MMSE Joint Transmission in Downlink Cooperative MIMO System

Abstract: Cooperative multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system is capable in mitigating co-channel interference (CCI) that limits the downlink capacity of cellular network. Among the joint transmission designs for base station (BS) cooperation, the linear joint transmissions with per-base power constraint is preferred due to its computational simplicity and reality. However, since the transmissions with per-base power constraint sometimes make BSs cannot fully utilize their usable power, it leads considerable capaci… Show more

“…In the conventional cellular system, the users receive signals from the serving base station(BS), but also suffer interference from Energy-efficient cluster division for multi-cell joint transmission Y. Li et al adjacent BSs called the other cell interference (OCI) [7]. As a result, the downlink capacity of the conventional cellular systems is limited by the OCI.…”

“…In [18], a simple dynamic clustering algorithm was proposed by applying the genetic algorithm. Also, a dynamic clustering algorithm for maintaining the performance while reducing the transmit power was suggested in [19], which gives better performance at the cost of of higher complexity than the algorithm in [18]. A dynamic clustering algorithm to avoid the ICI was developed in [20], whose objective is that the overall network has the minimal performance degradation while also improving the performance of the cell-edge user.…”
