“…3b), that can lead to the biochar having improved adsorption properties of organic pollutant (Borchardt et al, 2017). Three samples with different BET surface areas were selected for bisphenol A (BPA) absorption due to its potential toxicity to the environment and highly detection frequency in surface water (Chen et al, 2016;Wang et al, 2016).…”

“…Metal ions, especially for transition metal ions, are toxic and hard to recycle in wastewater, surface water and ground water. 20 Therefore, it is necessary to develop an efficient metal ions sensor.…”

“…Due to the catalytic growth with a nitrogen supply during carbon nanotube (CNT) synthesis 1 7 , bamboo-shaped multi-walled CNTs (BS-MWCNTs), which have a compartmented structure inside the tube similar to that in bamboo, have been reported 8 16 . Their unique structure and properties, such as a relatively large surface area and defect sites, have drawn increasing attention and led to their utilization in many applications, including their use as an absorbent for organic pollutants 13 , 17 , for hydrogen storage 10 , 18 , in lithium-ion battery electrodes 12 , and in sensors 11 . In detail, BS-MWCNTs have many defect sites near the partition part of the compartments because the multi-layered graphene sheets comprising the partition part are open-ended at the surface of the BS-MWCNTs 1 , 8 , 9 , 15 , which inevitably develops to maintain the curvature of the compartmented part.…”
