Bacterial Endo-Symbiont Inhabiting Tridax procumbens L. and Their Antimicrobial Potential

Abstract: Bacterial symbionts inhabitingTridax procumbensL. were screened for antimicrobial potential with the aim to isolate potent bacteria bearing significant activity against test pathogens. The selected isolate was subjected to large scale fermentation to extract antimicrobial metabolite. The organic phase was reduced under vacuum pressure and crude ethyl acetate extract (10 mg/mL) was evaluated for antimicrobial activity against panel of test pathogens. The antibacterial activity was measured as a zone of inhibiti… Show more

“…Plant diversity disturbance is a serious problem regarding using plants (Baker & Satish 2012;Baker et al 2015). Microbes are a desirable alternative because they are an abundant and reliable source of secondary metabolites that may transform a metal into its corresponding nanoparticles (Staniek et al 2008).…”

“…Endophytic fungi are a unique group of microorganisms that stay within the health tissues of plants, inhibiting inter-or intracellular spaces without causing any visible signs of disease or infections (Abdel-Azeem et al 2016Abo Nouh et al 2021;Gezaf et al 2023). These fungi establish a symbiotic relationship with their host plants, providing various benefits, including enhanced nutrient acquisition, stress tolerance, disease resistance, and improved growth (Baker et al 2015;Sandhu et al 2017).…”
