“…Moreover, Wu et al [15] experimentally deliberated the axial performance of hybrid concrete columns. The hybrid columns consisted of a shell with 20 mm thickness of ultra-high performance concrete with steel fibers and a core with normal strength concrete.…”

“…Thus, steel reinforcing rebars will remain protected from corrosion by the passive protection provided by the outer concrete despite the use of recycled concrete in the inner core. Based on available previous studies, two methods were observed to produce hybrid concrete columns: the normal (or low) strength concrete is made as inner core either confined by fibre reinforced concrete or high strength concrete without fibre materials, i.e., the column is made with two different concrete types (Wu et al, 2018;Resheq;2018, Hamid et al, 2020Ali, 2020). In both methods, the outer skin and inner core are interacted either by the full bond between the two concrete layers or by a partially bond between them.…”

“…On the other hand, the behaviour of HC with partial bonding between concrete layers was also studied by other researchers. In these columns, the concrete layers are connected either by resin materials or by shear keys (Wu et al, 2018;Ali, 2020;Abdulhameed and Said, 2019). These studies are closer to the topic of strengthening or repairing existing columns.…”

“…In order to avoid the difficulty of installing and removing the internal mold and to improve the production efficiency, various methods such as centrifugal casting method (Choi et al, 2000; Hamada et al, 1998; Hosoya et al, 2001; Hosoya and Asano, 2000; Hosoya and Hukuyama, 2008; Masuda and Yoshioka, 1994; Shan et al, 2017; Zhang et al, 2018a), multiple internal molds (Ding et al, 2017; Wu et al, 2018; Xiao et al, 2012, 2013; Zhang et al, 2009), sequential concrete placements rotating a section (Iso et al, 1999; Kim et al, 2016; Lim et al, 2014), and thin steel plate internal molds (Kim et al, 2017; Lee et al, 2014; Park et al, 2015) have been adopted to fabricate PC tubes. All these methods could improve the production efficiency and structural safety.…”

“…As an alternative method, concrete-filled precast concrete tube (CFPCT) columns have elicited considerable attention because they provide an effective and economical solution to the above issues. In the past few decades, similar types of columns with various details have been investigated under different names such as half PC columns (Choi et al, 2000;Hamada et al, 1998), outer-shell PC columns (Hosoya et al, 2001;Hosoya and Asano, 2000;Hosoya and Hukuyama, 2008;Iso et al, 1999;Masuda and Yoshioka, 1994;Zhang et al, 2009), semi-PC columns (Xiao et al, 2012(Xiao et al, , 2013, concretefilled hollow PC columns (Kim et al, 2016(Kim et al, , 2017Lee et al, 2014;Lim et al, 2014;Park et al, 2015), or CFPCT columns (Ding et al, 2017;Shan et al, 2017;Wu et al, 2018;Zhang et al, 2018a). In this method, a PC tube can be prefabricated in factory, and after erecting the PC tube on site, a composite column composed of PC tube and filled concrete can be completed by filling the core with cast-in-place concrete.…”
