Awareness and Treatment Decisions on Tooth Wear among Jordanian Dentists and Prosthodontists: A Cross-Sectional Survey Study

Abstract: Objectives. To assess the awareness, knowledge, and treatment decisions by dentists in Jordan regarding tooth wear. Materials and Methods. A questionnaire was disseminated to a random sample of 200 general dentists and 100 prosthodontists working in the Ministry of Health, academia, private practices, and military services. Chi square and independent t-tests were performed for statistical analysis. Results. Hundred and seventy-nine dentists and prosthodontists responded (59.7% response rate), of which 71.5% wa… Show more

“…The present report evaluated the influence of aging on clear aligners. However, it should be taken into account that wear [27] or brushing [28] can alter the surface characteristics of the orthodontic materials. Therefore, further studies are needed in order to also consider the possible effects of other unexplored variables.…”

“…Therefore, the authors suggest further clinical studies on this topic. Moreover, it should be taken into account that wear [ 33 ] or brushing [ 34 ] can alter the surface characteristics of the orthodontic materials. Yet, the current study did not consider the effect of brushing or long-term wear on the coated stainless steel wires.…”

“…In this study, the impact of aging on clear aligners was examined. However, it is important to consider that factors such as wear (55), brushing (40), and other cleaning protocols (41) have the potential to modify the surface properties of TOA materials. In a recent study (41), the surface roughness of PETG material was investigated after exposure to chemical and mechanical cleaning procedures, namely alkaline peroxide tablets (Corega+), a toothbrush, and a combination of the two.…”
