“…The indexing policy methodology originates from Carneiro's (1985) study, who recommends the evaluation of requirements, elements and indexing variables existing in information retrieval systems. The elaboration and implementation of the indexing policy realized in the network of university libraries at UNESP (Fujita, 2016) was evaluated after implementation and considered essential for achieving specificity and exhaustiveness in the development of the UNESP Thesaurus and in the retrieval of information in the online catalog (Rosas et al, 2016) According to Carneiro (1985), management activities evaluate the requirements that provide the infrastructure of the institutional repository and support the activities of information organization and representation on which the elements and variables of the indexing policy will be evaluated and defined.
