Autonomous Underwater Vehicles with Modeling and Analysis of 7-Phase BLDC Motor Drives

Abstract: -In this paper, a simulation model for 7-phase BLDC motor drives for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) is proposed. A 7-phase BLDC motor is designed and the electrical characteristics are analyzed using FEA program and the power electronics drives for the 7-phase BLDC motor are theoretically analyzed and the actual implementation has been accomplished using Matlab Simulink. PI controller and fuzzy controller are compared for verifying the validity of the proposed model and the informative results are des… Show more

“…A seven phase BLDC motor for the propulsion of AUV has been functionally modelled and simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK for studying its dynamic characteristics [7]. The analysis of electrical characteristics using Finite Element Analysis along with a comparative analysis of PI and Fuzzy controller has been done for a seven phase BLDC motor [8] 1167 is mechanically designed as a low cost thruster in AUV has been studied for its compatibility in a depth of more than 1 meter [97]. A prototype of electrical thrusters using permanent magnet BLDC motor has been designed and implemented with 2D Finite Element Method in order to optimize the speed and torque ranges, to minimize cogging torque and to maximize efficiency [10].…”

“…Eqs. (19) and (20) indicate the cut-off frequency of the first low-pass filter ( f c1 ) and PIlow-pass filter ( f c2 ), respectively, both with a voltage gain of 1. A spectral analysis through FFT has been performed for selecting both cut-off frequencies.…”
