Autonomous QoS Management and Policing in Unmanaged Local Area Networks

Abstract: The high increase of bandwidth-intensive applications like high definition video streaming in home and small office environments leads to QoS challenges in hybrid wired/wireless local area networks. These networks are often not QoS aware and may contain bottlenecks in their topology. In addition, they often have a hybrid nature due to the used access technology consisting of, for example, Ethernet, wireless, and PowerLAN links. In this paper, we present the research work on a novel autonomous system for hybrid… Show more

“…This queuing offers priority based service, wherein the lower priority queues are allowed to starve and higher priority packets are serviced here. During network congestion, in case the queue is full then low priority packets are dropped and packets with high priority are transmitted [2]. During congestion more critical data is given priority rather than the less critical data.…”

“…Such congestion control evaluates the network performance through-put and network delay. Using Bandwidth prediction algorithm Muttukrishnan et al implemented a Hybrid Local Area Network with improved QoS, robustness and effectiveness for both Wired and Wireless [13]. In the paper [14], timing analysis with end-to-end packet delivery is derived to observe the switched Ethernet Network performance.…”
