Automation of a Hybrid Control for Electrohydraulic Servo-Actuators with Residual Dynamics

Abstract: In this paper, a hybrid position/force controller for electrohydraulic servo-actuators is designed in the presence of residual dynamics. The purpose is to apply a cycle of movement that is mostly used in industrial fatigue test applications, which consists in imposing a specified force on a flexible load after a movement to some position. This cycle can be repeated several times with different magnitudes and frequencies of force and position trajectories. Some damages could occur at switching times, especially… Show more

“…In general, two kinds of hydraulic system configurations are used for these applications. One feasible method is to regulate the supply flow to the cylinder chamber by using an electrohydraulic servo/proportional valve [1,[11][12][13][14][15], which enables satisfactory dynamic behavior. Another approach is to regulate flow using a variable flow pump; this solution offers better energy efficiency [16], but the system bandwidth is restricted by the response speed of the pump, in which the moving parts' inertia is much larger than that of the servo/proportional valve.…”
