An NLP based AI tool was developed for topic mining Christian writings of major figures from different Christian eras and movements. The text corpus chosen for text mining includes : the volumes of Augustine and John Chrysostom from the patristic period, the writings of Thomas Aquinas from the Scholastic period, the writings of John Calvin the reformer and the text corpus of sermons by George Whitefield and John Wesley that mark the beginning of the modern Christian evangelical movement and evangelicalism. The topics text mined and topics summarized include : Gospel, Salvation, Jesus Christ, Sin, Temptation, Tribulation, Pride, Lust, Envy, Joy, Hope, Charity, Marriage, Church, Heaven, Hell. They are downloadable from the link - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tG2Y36MF1ApvYnhPM_njtNvKYiv7_8RL?usp=sharing and this is expected to help Christian content developers. The link to the code of the NLP tool hosted in the GitHub repository is provided to aid further development - https://github.com/bengeof/AI-driven-Theology-Open-Development. These tools must not be viewed as threatening the role of the human in humanities research broadly and specifically in Christian theology but as empowering the human with additional powers of AI for research in the humanities in the age of Big Data.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) can be defined as means by which computers can recognize and process human language in the form of text or speech. Many successful attempts of the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP) has been in indexing of web pages by search engines, performing sentiment analysis of product reviews on e-commerce sites, opinion mining on social media sites and attempts to use NLP based automated surveillance intelligence generation to counter terrorism. In the present work we propose an NLP algorithmic workflow that attempts to bring the power of Artificial Intelligence and computers to research in humanities. The Natural Language Processing(NLP) based programmatic tool, text mines and extracts information related to the user’s research interest from the text library curated by the user. After performing text and information extraction related to the user’s topic of interest, it attempts to summarize the information collected in meaningful ways for the user. These tools must not be viewed as threating the role of the human in humanities research but as empowering the human with additional powers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for research in the humanities in the age of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. To illustrate the use of the tool in a way that is contemporarily relevant we have curated an antiquity literature library and used to the tool to find the humans experience of the past during plagues and pestilence. We also used the tool to programmatically text mine and generate information on what Aristotle has to say about courage, a virtue we seem to need the most while dealing with the grave COVID-19 pandemic situation. The future outlook is two-fold, one being the use of the present tool in more nuanced and advanced ways for research in humanities than the simple demonstration carried out in the present work and other being the development of more application specific NLP algorithms by the computer science research community for the use of NLP in addressing research problems in humanities to aid human beings in the handling and processing of Big Data by the use of Artificial Intelligence. The Web and social media nowadays play an increasingly significant role in spreading terrorism-related propaganda and content. In order to deploy counterterrorism measures, authorities rely on automated systems for analysing text, multimedia, and social media content on the Web. However, since each of these systems is an isolated solution, investigators often face the challenge of having to cope with a diverse array of heterogeneous sources and formats that generate vast volumes of data. Semantic Web technologies can alleviate this problem by delivering a toolset of mechanisms for knowledge representation, information fusion, semantic search, and sophisticated analyses of terrorist networks and spatiotemporal information. In the Semantic Web environment, ontologies play a key role by offering a shared, uniform model for semantically integrating information from multimodal heterogeneous sources. An additional benefit is that ontologies can be augmented with powerful tools for semantic enrichment and reasoning. This paper presents such a unified semantic infrastructure for information fusion of terrorism-related content and threat detection on the Web. The framework is deployed within the TENSOR EU-funded project, and consists of an ontology and an adaptable semantic reasoning mechanism. We strongly believe that, in the short-and long-term, these techniques can greatly assist Law Enforcement Agencies in their investigational operations.
