“…The degree of blocking, i.e., blocking efficiency, is expressed as Y %, with Y % = (1 − A / B )%, where B is the integrated area of the voltammogram (i.e., current vs applied voltage curve) measured on bare clean gold and A is the integrated area of the voltammogram measured on the gold surface modified by a nonconductive adlayer. The blocking efficiency provides an indirect measure of surface coverage of the adlayer. , For a gold surface modified by the polymeric monolayer, a significant attenuation of the faradaic current of the redox probe Fe(CN) 6 3- was observed in the CV measurements as shown in Figure . With Fe(CN) 6 3- , the blocking efficiencies of these polymeric monolayers varied from 93.5 to 99.0% (Table ).…”

“…According to the literature, a Ru(NH 3 ) 6 3+ probe more easily penetrates through a monolayer than Fe(CN) 6 3- , and as such, it is more sensitive to defects in the monolayer than Fe(CN) 6 3- . Therefore, the blocking efficiency measured with Ru(NH 3 ) 6 3+ is an indirect measure of the amount of defects in the polymeric monolayer. We assume that the amount of defects is directly related to chains packing density in a monolayer, in that less defects indicate a higher packing density. Consequently, when the blocking efficiency of the various monolayers for Ru(NH 3 ) 6 3+ is compared, we are able to compare the relative degree of packing density of the polymeric monolayers.…”

“…For the μCP method, the SWNT Langmuir film was transferred on the prepatterned PDMS stamp fabricated according previous literatures, ,, and it was dried for 10 min under ambient conditions. The Si substrates cleaned using UVO cleaner (Jelight Inc., 42-220) were surface modified by using 1.0% ethanolic solution of 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane. , The amino-modified substrate was brought into conformal contact with the PDMS stamp inked with SWNT LB film. The stamp was carefully peeled away after contacting with the substrate for 5 min.…”
