Atrial septal defect closure via mini-thoracotomy in pediatric patients: Postoperative analgesic effect of intercostal nerve block

Abstract: Bu çalışmada, sağ lateral mini-torakotomi ile atriyal septal defekt kapatılması yapılan pediatrik hastalarda interkostal sinir blokunun ameliyat sonrası ağrı yönetimindeki etkinliği değerlendirildi. Ça lış mapla nı:Ocak 2016-Ocak 2019 tarihleri arasında sağ lateral minitorakotomi ile atriyal septal defekt kapatılması için düzeltici doğuştan kalp cerrahisi yapılan toplam 63 pediatrik hasta (37 erkek, 26 kız; ort. yaş 34.8±26.8 ay; dağılım, 2-96 ay) retrospektif olarak incelendi. Hastalar interkostal sinir bloku… Show more

“…10 It has also clearly been shown that the use of a peripheral nerve block for postoperative pain management significantly decreases the amount of opioids being used during the operation, while recovering in the hospital, and after the patient has been sent home at no expense to patient-reported VAS scores or overall patient satisfaction. [10][11][12][13][14][15]17,20,21,28 After reviewing the existing data on the topic, it is difficult to understand why peripheral nerve blocks for postoperative pain management are not being utilized everywhere. There is a need for more studies similar to the one in which researchers analyzed the National Anesthesia Outcome Registry to look for disparities in peripheral nerve block utilization in various patient populations.…”

“…When administered preoperatively, a peripheral nerve block also has the ability to decrease the intraoperative use of opioids. [10][11][12][13] In a retrospective data analysis study, researchers showed that conservative intraoperative opioid administration has the potential to decrease postoperative readmission rates. 14 In order to provide some data where there were little before, researchers at Kırıkkale University School of Medicine set out to determine the effectiveness of a peripheral nerve block for laparoscopic cholecystectomy.…”
