Atmospheric Concentration Saturated and Aromatic Hydrocarbons Around Dura Refinery

Abstract: The process of oil reproducing in the refinery considered as one of the largest industrial facilities responsible for the emission of many pollutants into the air and works to pollute the air surrounding the refinery. Hydrocarbons are among the most important pollutants emitted into the air from oil recycling operations and should be studied to reduce the proportions of hazardous pollutants. As the pollution caused by the burning of fuel in the chimneys of the refinery Dora is a dangerous contaminant to the en… Show more

“…An essential group of pollutants that requires particular consideration consists of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), compounds that can be involved in the generation of secondary pollutants like ozone (O 3 ) or secondary organic aerosol (SOA) [3,4]. VOCs encompass a diverse array of chemical substances [5,6], with specific emphasis placed on benzene, toluene, and ethylene. It is imperative to address this notable category of pollutants because of its contribution to the production of secondary pollutants like O 3 [3,4].…”

Therefore, the Iraqi committee of health and environment in the Iraqi parliament called for a decision to transfer DR to another place according to environmental and international regulations (Murtadah et al, 2020). However, due to the economic difficulties the country is going through, this option is no longer on the table now.…”
