Association of TP53 gene codon 72 polymorphism with endometriosis in Mexican women

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The TP53 tumor suppressor gene plays an important role in cell cycle regulation; polymorphisms of this gene have been associated with endometriosis. We examined the role of TP53 codon 72 polymorphism by comparing genotypes of 235 healthy Mexican women (controls with surgically excluded endometriosis) with the genotypes of 151 Mexican women with endometriosis. The observed genotype frequencies for controls and endometriosis patients were 8 and 22% for proline/proline (Pro/Pro), 30 and 34% for proline/… Show more

“…Fifty-one studies were identified by electronic and manual searching and 12 were selected for a full-text review based on the title and abstract details (Ammendola et al, 2008;Bianco et al, 2011;Chang et al, 2002;Gallegos-Arreola et al, 2012;Gloria-Bottini et al, 2013;Govatati et al, 2012;Hsieh & Lin, 2006;Lattuada et al, 2004;Omori et al, 2004;Paskulin et al, 2012;Vietri et al, 2007;Ying et al, 2011). Three studies were excluded because one contained no data (Gloria-Bottini et al, 2013), one had duplicate data(28), and one had a genotype distribution in controls that was not in HWE (Gallegos-Arreola et al, 2012).…”

“…Recently, a growing number of studies have been published (Mathur, ; Kennedy et al., ; Zondervan et al., ; Bischoff & Simpson, ) that suggest that mechanical, hormonal, immunologic, genetic, and environmental factors play a critical role in the etiology of endometriosis. In particular, many genetic association studies have concentrated on the associations between the development of endometriosis and some potential genetic polymorphisms (Chun et al., ; Gallegos‐Arreola et al., ).…”

“…Therefore, a total of 20 case-control studies in 19 articles was included. In further screening, four case-control studies were excluded under the circumstances that the genotypes of them did not conform to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (Gallegos-Arreola et al, 2012;Hur et al, 2002;Lattuada et al, 2004;Nikbakht Dastjerdi et al, 2013). Eventually, a total of 16 case-control studies in 15 articles identified completely met the inclusion criteria, including 2776 cases and 3556 controls (Bianco et al, 2011;Camargo-Kosugi et al, 2014;Chan, 2013;Frare et al, 2013;Gloria-Bottini et al, 2013;Govatati et al, 2012;Hsieh and Lin, 2006;Huang et al, 2013;Kang et al, 2004;Omori et al, 2004;Paskulin et al, 2012;Rotman et al, 2013;Silva, 2012;Vietri et al, 2007;Ying et al, 2011).…”
