Association of ESR1 polymorphism rs2234693 and rs9340799 with postmenopausal osteoporosis in a Chinese population

Abstract: Background: Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO) is the most common type of primary osteoporosis. ESR1 polymorphism rs2234693 and rs9340799 has been widely studied as a candidate gene associated with PMO, however, the findings were inconclusive. The present study aims to explore the relationship of ESR1 polymorphism rs2234693 and rs9340799 with PMO risk in a Chinese Han population. Methods: PMO patients and healthy controls were recruited from gynecology department. DNA of all participants were extracted from the… Show more

“…Bander et al demonstrated a significant relationship between the occurrence of ESR1 rs1884051 and rs2077647 polymorphisms with osteoporosis in patients with HIV infection, with men dominating in the study group 36 . However, Jin Shu et al did not show a relationship between the ESR1 rs2077647 polymorphism and postmenopausal osteoporosis in the Chinese population 37 . Studies by Kurt et al also did not show a relationship between the occurrence of osteoporosis and the polymorphisms of the ESR1 rs9340799 and rs2234693 gene.…”
