“…In this regard, a recent study set out to disentangle distinct facets of positive affect and determine their associations to reward sensitivity (Dornbach‐Bender et al, 2020). Their analysis revealed four facets of positive affect: serenity, joviality, attentiveness, and self‐assurance, all being significantly positively correlated with reward responsiveness except for the serenity facet which showed no association (Dornbach‐Bender et al, 2020). This finding is in line with research associating positive affective states of safety and contentment with a quiescence motivational state following reward acquisition, goal achievement, and fulfillment of consummatory needs (Depue & Morrone‐Strupinsky, 2005; Gilbert et al, 2008; McCall & Singer, 2012) and less with an approach‐motivated appetitive state of reward‐seeking targeted at reward acquisition (Corr, 2008; Gray, 1987).…”
