“…100 There are a number of known polymorphisms in the VEGF gene including Ϫ1879 G/A, Ϫ1498 T/C, Ϫ1190 G/A, Ϫ1154 G/A, Ϫ634 C/G, Ϫ7 C/T, and 936 C/T. 101,102 A polymorphism at Ϫ634 (G to C) has been associated with increased serum levels of VEGF. 101 Diabetic patients with the Ϫ634 C allele are more likely to develop the vascular disease nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy than those with the Ϫ634 G major allele (OR 3.20; 95% CI 1.45-7.05; P ϭ .0046).…”

“…The T-variant, which is linked to lower VEGF levels, has been associated with breast cancer, sarcoidosis and spontaneous preterm delivery [6][7][8]. This suggests a potential role of the VEGF 936C>T polymorphism for the variability of FDG uptake in tumor tissue.…”

“…Many polymorphisms have been reported in the promoter and the 5 0 -and 3 0 -untranslated regions (UTRs) of the VEGF gene. These polymorphisms are associated with various diseases, including recurrent pregnancy loss, preeclampsia, Alzheimer's disease, and breast cancer (15)(16)(17)(18)(19)(20).…”
