Abstract: In this population-based cohort of early-stage resected colon cancer, disease laterality was not associated with long-term OS or CSS.

“…Half of the patients with rectal cancer had received preoperative radiotherapy, which could have resulted in eradication of lymph node metastases, and, therefore, affecting these results. A poorer prognosis for right-sided than left-sided colon cancer has been shown in stage IV CRC [25], but in stage I-III disease conflicting results are reported [26][27][28]. Right-sided colon cancer has been associated with poor differentiation grade and T4 stage, but is less likely to be node-positive, than left-sided colon cancer [27].…”

Right-sided colon cancer has been associated with poor differentiation grade and T4 stage, but is less likely to be node-positive, than left-sided colon cancer [27]. In this study, only in stage III colon cancer tumor laterality affected OS, but this may be due to the abovementioned discrepancies.…”

“…The outcomes of patients with left-sided cancers are better than those of right-sided cancers in metastatic CRC [5][6][7][8]. However, the available information and findings remain limited and contradictory in localized CRC [9,10]. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of PTL in CRC.…”

“… 3 6 However, other researchers have shown that there is no significant survival difference according to tumor location. 7 , 8 Recently, an analysis of the results of six randomized trials (including CRYSTAL, FIRE-3, CALGB 80405, etc) showed that metastatic RCCs and LCCs seem to have different survival outcomes with different targeted agents. 9 Hopefully, these cancers will be treated with different approaches in the future.…”
