Association between mean platelet volume and cardiovascular disease in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

Abstract: Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is associated with cardiovascular diseases. Mean platelet volume has emerged as a marker of prothrombotic conditions and cardiovascular risk. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the mean platelet volume and cardiovascular diseases in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Methods: The medical records of 207 patients were analyzed. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome was diagnosed by polygraphy, and patients were classified accordin… Show more

“…Additionally, 19 articles (_((((xxx))))_) [17, 20, 21, 32, 34-41, 44, 46, 47, 49, 50, 52, 56] reported the Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficients of MPV with various sleep monitoring parameters (AHI: n = 17, mean arterial oxygen saturation [mean SaO 2 ]: n = 4, ODI: n = 5, sleep efficiency: n = 2, SaO 2 <90%: n = 8, LSaO 2 : n = 7). Furthermore, three articles [20,35,43] provided adjusted ORs for the association between MPV and the occurrence of CVDs in patients with OSAHS (two articles focused on coronary heart disease and one article on atrial fibrillation). Fig 1 presents the literature screening process.…”
