Association Between Cytochrome 1B1*3 Polymorphism and the Breast Cancer in a Group of Iranian Women

Abstract: Background: As a hormone-dependent cancer, estrogen is involved in the development of breast cancer. CYP1B1 belongs to the P450 superfamily of enzymes and is involved in the metabolism of estrogen. The present study investigates the relationship between CYP1B1*3 rs1056836 polymorphism and breast cancer in Iranian women. Methods: The present case-control study was conducted on 79 women with breast cancer and 79 healthy women admitted to Shohadaye Tajrish hospital in Tehran. Blood samples were taken from all the… Show more

“…Human and laboratory studies have been conducted on the role of these 2 elements in preventing carcinogenesis process and tumor cell growth (19)(20)(21)(22). On the other hand, epidemiological studies have shown that differences in dietary habits or diet (23,24) and air pollution (25) can effect on risk of BC, in line with genetics (26). In Ku's study, it was suggested that change the vital elements in serum and tissue might be beneficial and considerable biomarkers in BC (27).…”

“…Therefore, genetic variation associated with risk of breast cancer has been studied widely, hoping that polymorphism genotyping will stratify breast cancer risk more accurately (13)(14)(15).…”
