Assessment of the Innovative Potential of Alternative Energy in the Context of the Transition to the Circular Economy

The use of digital technologies affects all stages of agricultural production, transforming and improving business processes, models, and structures. In this regard, the efficiency of implementing the digital platform in the strategic development of an agricultural enterprise is an urgent scientific task. The purpose of this research is to develop practical recommendations for improving the information support of agricultural enterprises in conditions of digitalization based on the elaboration of the digital platform for the agro-industrial complex. The research is methodologically based on a systematic approach, methods of analysis and ITIL-based modeling. As part of the research, an organizational and economic mechanism has been developed to improve the information support of an agricultural enterprise in conditions of digitalization, the main components of which are the ITIL methodology and the ITSM-based management approach, material and technical, personnel, scientific and information consulting, and financial and economic support. Application of the organizational and economic mechanism developed will significantly facilitate the elaboration of similar projects. The authors have developed the model of the digital platform for the agroindustrial complex of the Komi Republic, which includes the necessary modules, with the prospect of subsequent strategic development based on the introduction of Digital Twins Technology. Operation of the digital platform proposed will make it possible to proactively use best practices, optimize the resources used in production, expand the agricultural producers' access to information on markets and prices, enhance the authorities' interaction with various economic entities, and ensure digital literacy among industry workers.

Today, humanity is on the verge of the fourth industrial revolution. This can result in a radical transformation of all aspects of society. Information technology is the core of the fourth industrial revolution. The application variety of modern information technologies determines the infinite vectors of their use, which ultimately become the overwhelming number of instruments for life simplifing. Professional activity sphere is also being transformed under the influence of information technology development. However, this transformation process is extremely ambiguous. In connection with this specificity, the purpose of this study is a systematic analysis of the influence of the information technology development dynamics on the transformation of the labor market. The hypothesis assumes that there is a relationship between technology development and changes in the labour market. This research examine digitalization impact on unemployment level and the process of gradual extinction of certain professions. As the results authors defined mathematical formalization of the alleged links and formulate the main vectors of labour market transformation under the digital technologies development.

Innovation Options and Profitability of Pharmaceutical Brand Manufacturers

Much research exists covering clinical development success rates, development costs of new drugs, and market launch impact on stock market valuation of companies, but little systematic work has been done to establish the impact of research input on new product launches and, in turn, their impact on profitability of drug manufacturers. This article investigates these relations using data from the world's largest pharmaceutical brand manufacturers and their product launches in the US over a period of more than 25 years. The objective is to determine the impact of innovation intensity on innovation output intensity and of innovation output intensity on profitability. It is shown that there is a complete lack of evidence that launches of New Molecular Entities (NMEs) necessarily lead to higher profitability, suggesting that many launches of NMEs are not particularly successful from an economic point of view. Furthermore, it was found that intangible knowledge assets acquired by company mergers and acquisitions do often not live up to their valuation. This leads to the conclusion that such intangible assets seem to be overpriced on average. The more and more frequently used strategy of launching new drugs without NMEs like combination drugs or extension of indications increased short-term profitability making this a valid approach to avoid setbacks when patent protection of blockbuster drugs expires.
