Assessment of state of Dactylorhiza fuchsii (Orchidaceae) populations from the Altai mountains of Kazakhstan

Abstract: Abstract. Sumbembayev AA, Tergenbaeva ZHT, Kudabayeva GM, Tashmetova RS, Genievskaya YA, Szlachetko DL. 2022. Title. Biodiversitas 23: 4385-4399. The article presents the results of studying the current state of populations of a rare species - Dactylorhiza fuchsii in the Kazakhstan Altai. As a result of expeditionary studies, four main regions were identified, which were represented by 12 populations. Floristic plasticity according to the Jaccard coefficient (12-24%) showed a high heterogeneity of the studied … Show more

“…Studies were conducted using semi-stationary methods (Childibayeva et al, 2022). Under field conditions, we described the identified populations with H. theinum and H. neglectum, established floristic composition (Kubentayev et al, 2021), abundance according to Drude (Sumbembayev et al, 2022), collected herbarium and collected samples of above-and below-ground plants for further anatomical and phytochemical. Latin names of plants are given according to POWO (2019), and the phylogenetic plant classification system is indicated according to Takhtajan (2009).…”

“…On the contrary, in Eastern Kazakhstan, the main limiting factors are a short frost-free period, recurrent spring frosts and low winter temperatures. Therefore, winter hardiness and frost resistance are the dominant indicators of the prospects for introduction [24][25][26].…”

“…At the same time, a limited number of studies have been conducted on the study of Rheum species at the population level (Libert and Englund 1989;Song et al 2015;Khan et al 2019), especially in Kazakhstan (Dagarova et al 2017)being a peripheral part of the range. Morphometry of generative organs (Eshibaev et al 2021;Sumbembayev et al 2021;Aidarkhanova et al 2022;Orazov et al 2022;Sumbembayev et al 2022;Vesselova et al 2022) and seeds, in particular, can serve as a qualitative systematic trait. According to the analysis of carpological studies (Zhao et al 2008;Sharma and Sharma 2017;Kong et al 2018;Tan et al 2019; Bhardwaj and Sood 2020), rhubarb fruits and seeds have differences that, together with other diagnostic features, can be used to clarify systematic relationships and determine species.…”
