This cross-sectional observational study aims to determine isokinetic normality data at different speeds, and isometric data of ankle and knee joints, in healthy basketball players aged 15–16 years old. The participants were recruited through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Sociodemographic, anthropometric, and biomechanical variables were collected. The study involved 42 participants. Right-leg dominance was higher in women (85.7%) than in men (78.6%). Men had a higher weight, height, and body mass index compared to women. Statistically significant differences were observed between sex and height (p < 0.001). Significant differences were found between sexes in knee flexor and extensor strength at different isokinetic speeds (30°, 120°, and 180°/s), except for the maximum peak strength knee flexion at 180°/s in the right leg. In the ankle, the variables inversion, eversion, and work strength values at different isokinetic speeds and full RoM, by sex, were not significantly different, except for the right (p = 0.004) and the left (p = 0.035) ankle full RoM. The study found lower knee extensor strength in women, indicating the need to improve knee flexor/extensor strength in women to match that of men, as seen in other joints. The results can guide the development of preventive and therapeutic interventions for lower limb injuries in basketball players.

Strength training is an important part of the preparation of competitive athletes. The subject of interest of the scientists connected of sports swimming was the level of strength ability of the competitors practising this sport and the influence of this ability on the final sports result. The purpose of this review is to describe and consider the impact of strength training of the shoulder muscles in sports swimming. A literature review was conducted in Embase, Medline PubMed, DOAJ, EBSCO and Google databases. Basic search terms are: training in sports swimming, strength tests, evaluation of muscle properties, rotation of the arm, strength measurement methods. Results: 235 results were found and 148 professional publications were selected and analysed. A thorough review of scientific publications indicates that strength parameters of the shoulder girdle muscles played a very important role on the sports performance of swimmers. The programmes combining swim training with 'on land' strength improvement or electrical stimulation are more effective than swim training alone. Significant fatigue of the rotator muscles can impair shoulder stability and result in injury. Increased strength in the internal rotation movement may result pathological conditions of the shoulder.

Introduction. The work presents the tasks and content of initial swimming training for children aged 5-7 years. A significant number of children today, unfortunately, do not know how to swim, so research on the initial swimming training of preschool children is relevant. The purpose study of the tasks and content of initial swimming training for children 5-7 years old. Material and methods. The following research methods are used in the article: study and analysis of scientific and methodological literature and Internet sources. The results. In our work, we investigated the task of initial swimming training of preschoolers according to the age factor (5-7 years), because we consider it the most optimal for the learning process. It is important to teach 5-year-old children to enter the water without fear, to clearly form a reaction to the instructor's command and the format of behavior required during swimming lessons. The process of initial swimming training for 5-year-old children can include up to 1 year of systematic lessons. For 6-year-old children, more complex aspects of initial swimming training are already provided. Aspects of sports swimming are already appearing. The tasks of initial swimming training for preschool children should be implemented gradually and consistently from year to year. Of course, if a 7-year-old child came to the stage of initial swimming training, then he works according to methodical tasks and requirements as for a 5-year-old child, however, the time required for the child to master certain skills and abilities, based on practical experience, will be much less. All swimming classes should have a health-improving focus in the primary groups of preschool children. Conclusion. We have researched the tasks and content of initial swimming training for 5-7 year old children. The sequence of learning the movements of individual parts of the body when learning a certain way of swimming will consist of: familiarization with the properties of water, leg movements, hand movements, breathing, full coordination of movements.
