Assessment of micro‐scale thermal behaviors and combustion performance of organic fireproof plugging material in air atmosphere

Abstract: Organic fireproof plugging material (OFPM) has excellent flame retardance and is widely used in construction cable holes. In order to study the micro‐scale thermal behaviors and combustion performance of OFPM, thermogravimetric experiments were performed at five heating rates of 5, 10, 20, 40 and 60 K/min in air atmosphere. The results showed that polychloroprene, China clay and carbonate in OFPM were involved in the whole degradation process, which included four stages. In the first stage, polychloroprene was… Show more

“…The first degradation mainly due to dehydrochlorination of CR along with other degradation products, appears at around 270 C and reaches a maximum rate at around 300 C for the control sample. [37,38] Then in the temperature range of 380-510 C, the second weight loss of the samples appears, the residual polymer chains are further crosslinked with increasing temperature and degraded. [39] It is apparent from Table S2 that the presence of DBDPE decreased the T onset of the CR samples compared with the control.…”

“…In terms of the evaluation of combustion properties of timbers, Zhang et al [17] calculated the combustion performance indexes such as ignition index, flammability index and combustibility index of the main components to evaluate the flame-retardant properties of organic fireproof plugging material. Zhu et al [18] studied the burning properties of the pyrolysis residues of plastics with different particle sizes in terms of ignition index and comprehensive combustion characteristic index.…”
