Assessment of biological polluttion of soil in the Arkhangelsk Region

Abstract: Assessment of soil biological pollution and epidemic hazard in the Arkhangelsk region was carried out using the monitoring data in 2007–2015. The dangerous soil pollution by microorganisms of E. coli group was in Arkhangelsk, Novodvinsk and six districts, by fecal streptococcus was in Kotlas. Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Novodvinsk and nine districts were territories with moderately dangerous of soil pollution by eggs, larvae of ascarids and toxocara. The level of soil contamination by microorganisms in the terr… Show more

“…Soil is a most significant component in the environment; it accumulates chemicals and causes secondary contamination of ambient air and water [1,2]. Chemicals occur in soil mostly due to discharges and emissions from industrial enterprises, motor transport, communal and industrial wastes [3][4][5][6][7].…”

“…PAHs absorption from soils through roots of agricultural plants makes for their penetration into food chains with agricultural products and the process has an apparent biomagnification effect. Besides, soils act as the secondary contamination source for ambient air and water by accumulating these pollutants quite actively [27]. Therefore, results produced by monitoring of 3,4-ben(a)pyrene concentrations in urban soils are highly informative integral indicators for creating an objective hygienic and environmental profile of a territory within social and hygienic monitoring activities and environmental analytics [28].…”

“…Являясь важнейшим компонентом окружающей среды, почва аккумулирует химические вещества и выступает источником вторичного загрязнения атмосферного воздуха и воды [1,2]. Основными источниками поступления химических веществ в почву являются выбросы и сбросы промышленных предприятий, автотранспорт, бытовые и производственные отходы [3][4][5][6][7].…”
