Assessing the technology impact for industry carbon density reduction in China based on C3IAM-Tice

Abstract: Thermal power, steel, cement, and coal chemical industries account 62.6% energy consumption and 84.6% carbon emissions of China simultaneously in 2015. This research use C 3 IAM-Tice model to analyze the impact of advanced technologies ratio increasing quantitatively. The model can explore the balance of emission reduction and economy efficiency of energy use, finally got the technology structure optimization for these four industries. The paper uses the historical energy consumption and CO 2 emission, combing… Show more

“…For example, the FDI, FE, and NPA, as super-interacting factors, have a leading advantage in interacting with other factors, and significantly amplify their influence on the carbon emission intensity of industrial land. Therefore, for globalization, government intervention, and technological innovation represented by the FDI, FE, and NPA [75,76], it is necessary to design dedicated supporting policies, and more importantly, to highlight their combined relationship with related policies such as investment density, urban planning, and plot ratio control to optimize management performance [77,78].…”

“…The actual situation of industrial development in China has not taken into account the optimization of industrial structure, neglecting the pressure on resources and environment during development, and neglecting the sustainable development of the industry. China's excessive reliance on coal has led to low energy utilization efficiency, which has become an important factor affecting the optimization of China's energy structure and further constraining the sustainable development of China's economy [6]. According to statistics, the total energy utilization efficiency in China is about 48%, which is more than 15 percentage points lower than the international average.…”

“…Vital parts of the national economy, metallurgy, cement, and heat power industries play significant roles in promoting economic growth and upgrading people's living standards [1][2][3]. However, the development of these industries needs to consume large amounts of energy and will release large quantities of pollutants including carbon dioxide [4,5], which will not only aggravate the global energy crisis, but also contribute to global warming and seriously hinder the sustainable development of human beings [6]. Therefore, it is of profound significance to realize the human-shared vision of emission peak and carbon neutrality through promoting the energy saving, consumption diminution and green low-carbon development of these excessive-energy expenditure and high-polluted enterprises [7].…”
