Globalization significantly impacts social characteristics of the educational environment, which is becoming increasingly multicultural not only on university campuses but also in the online space, which makes it necessary for teachers to develop intercultural competence and sensitivity. The study aimed to investigate the peculiarities of Chinese college teachers' intercultural sensitivity development. 96 teachers took part in the study. A communicative training aimed at increasing intercultural sensitivity was developed and its indicators were measured in dynamics, before and after the training. The research methodology was based on socio-cultural, group and personal factors of intercultural competence. The Intercultural Sensitivity Scale by Hukhlaev and Chibisova, modified by Logashchenko, and the Ethnonational Attitudes Scale by Hukhlaev, Kuznetsov and Tkachenko were used. Passing the communicative training had a positive impact on the intercultural sensitivity of the studied teachers, contributing to the formation of their optimal and adequate attitude to intercultural differences and a more tolerant attitude towards representatives of other ethnic groups. Cultural consumption provides numerous benefits for individuals, especially for younger generations. Imaginary travel narratives can shape people’s perceptions about other cultures thus are useful tools for developing intercultural competences. On the other hand, positive psychology provides an approach to understand different aspects of students/youngsters’ wellbeing. This study investigates the wellbeing associated with learning the meanings of being different and growing in emotional resilience, flexibility, and openness to other cultures through movies. The positive psychology approach was used to examine the benefits of movie consumption in order to investigate the activation of five domains of wellbeing: positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment (PERMA). The research methodology consisted of the experiment and questionnaire survey. The students’ scores on the wellbeing and intercultural competences were measured before and after the intervention. The intervention consisted of sessions of watching two example movies, Eat Pray Love and Hotel Transylvania 2, and subsequent group discussions about the movies’ respective messages. The participants’ group was formed by 236 university students from Brunei and Romania, ages between 18 and 49years old. The results showed an increase in students’ openness to other cultures and across some of the wellbeing PERMA dimensions. The study makes a theoretical contribution by connecting positive psychology and the intercultural competence constructs and the influences of movies.

The quest to flourish academically and acquire skills needed for job opportunities has brought people from different cultures and countries to closely interact. Using Vygotsky's sociocultural theory, this study examines the relationship between international students' intercultural sensitivity and academic adaptation and the mediating role of general health. A one‐way analysis of variance and structural equation model were conducted to assess the differences and relationships between the constructs, utilizing 338 respondents. The findings showed that male, doctoral, and English‐taught students reported significantly higher academic adaptation. Students who have no or less COVID‐19 related issues reported higher general health. Further, the regression results revealed that intercultural sensitivity is related to academic adaptation, and general health partially mediated the intercultural sensitivity and academic adaptation relationship. These findings demonstrate that intercultural sensitivity nurtures students' self‐esteem and mental toughness, which allow them to reap good health outcomes that impact academic adaptation. The practical implications and limitations of the study have been discussed.
