Assessing the Environmental Condition of Minor Rivers in Urban Areas

Abstract: This article is devoted to the study of water and sediment pollution in the channel of the Neva delta. Spectrophotometry was used to determine the concentration of pollutants in water. In the chemical analysis of the precipitate, atomic absorption spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy were used. Analysis of the hydrochemical composition and sediment of the Smolenka River showed high concentrations of heavy metals and petroleum products. At the same time, the hydrochemical composition of the Smolenka River is … Show more

“…The article [53] explains the choice of several criteria for assessing the prestige of districts in resort towns, which include: proximity to the sea coast with public beaches; availability of entertainment venues; environmental quality, including the sea coast and the sea itself [54,55]; microclimatic conditions [56,57]; the opportunity to install utility lines [58]; population density; hotel ratings. These criteria will make it possible, first, to state if there any prerequisites for the emergence of prestigious districts in resort towns; second, to state where their boundaries are; third, to confirm or refute the hypothesis that pricing processes differ depending on how prestigious areas are; fourth, to find the cadastral value of a land plot taking into account the prestige of the area where it is located.…”

“…The need to strengthen the protection and sustainability of cultural and natural world heritage is also laid down in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations (UN) Member States in 2015 [1]. At present, in the context of active human economic activity in urbanized areas as well as the impact of negative environmental and urban planning factors, this issue is becoming more and more relevant [2,3]. In their study, G. Chen, J. Shi, Y. Xia, and K. Furuya [4] revealed the influence of urbanization on the attractiveness of historical landscapes for tourism and on the sustainable development of territories of historical landscaping.…”

“…In Russia, approximately half of the total streamflow volume accounts for small rivers [Kuznetsov & Petrov 2017, Nevskaya et al 2019]. Due to minor runoff volumes in small rivers, the self-remediation process is slower, and the longterm anthropogenic impact leads to the degradation of water ecosystems [Kremcheyev et al 2020, Puzanov et al 2015].…”
