Aspects Regarding Implementation of Renewable Energy Sources in Romania up to 2050

Abstract: The paper describes the tendencies in the implementation of renewable energy sources in Romania until 2050. It is presented some arguments to justify the necessity to implement the renewable energy sources. Using the potential of renewable sources previously estimated for Romania are presented two scenarios with the necessary considerations.

“…Moreover, the emergence and development of the biofuels segment attracted new transnational companies that initially had nothing to do with the production of agricultural products. However, the production of biofuels is a rather controversial topic considering that agricultural lands are no longer used to meet the food needs of the population, but to generate products used for energy as it si argued by Dusmanescu, (2013) or Ene et al, (2017). The liberalization of capital movements internationally was also reflected in the increase in FDI flows concentrated in the agricultural sector, the maximum being reached in 2007.…”

“…Many experts believe that the use of renewable energy is a solution that could help reduce the problem of energy poverty, despite the challenges and limitations associated with the use of this energy source. Even if the generation of such energy in some cases entails more costs than conventional energy generation, experts underline the short-and long-term benefits of its use [96]. The implementation of renewable energy projects generates not only disputes related to the costs and financing of investments, but also to their acceptance by local communities (due to the negative external effects generated in the form of aesthetics, noise, biodiversity degradation, etc.)…”

“…The implementation of renewable energy projects does not generate only disputes related to costs and investment financing, but also to their acceptance by local communities (given the negative externalities generated-like aesthetics, noise, biodiversity degradation, etc.). However, the renewable energy production projects could be a solution for the development of rural communities, which, in this way, providing the necessary energy, attracting the local labor force, thus ensuring the increase of the incomes of the local population [56][57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64].…”
