Aspectos biológicos de Pelidnota fulva Blanchard, 1850 (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Rutelinae)

Abstract: Some species of Scarabaeidae present an important function in the decomposition and recycle of organic material and because there is little information on this group of insects, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the biological aspects of Pelidnota fulva Blanchard, 1850. Determination of the period of occurrence was performed by capture of adults with a light trap and in laminated areas of the experimental farm belonging to the Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, from January 2… Show more

“…This behavior has been observed in several species of Melolonthidae, such as L. femoratus , Anomala testaceipennis Blanchard, 1850 and L. fuscus (Rodrigues et al 2008ab), C. verticalis (Rodrigues et al 2010b), and P. fulva (Rodrigues & Falco 2011). Pupae of L. ambrosius are larger than those of L. femoratus, which are light yellow and measure about 14-16 mm in length and 7-12 mm wide (Pardo-Locarno et al 2006).…”

“…Descriptions of preimaginal stages are scarcely provided to species of Pelidnota (cf., Albertoni et al, 2014). Biological data were added to some Pelidnota species with economic importance (Hoffmann, 1936;Lordello, 1951;Morón & Deloya, 2002;Rodrigues & Falco, 2011). However, larvae of only four species are known: Pelidnota fulva Blanchard, 1850 described by Rodrigues & Morón (2012), Pelidnota lugubris LeConte, 1874 described by Lugo-García et al (2019), Pelidnota punctata (Linnaeus, 1758) figured by Isaac (1907: fig.…”
